Ngorongoro Crater Highlight: The Ngorongoro Crater is a sunken volcano, or better termed the largest intact volcanic caldera. The outlook of the crater from the crest will enlight you with an expansive sight of the entire crater which spans about 260 square kilometers.

Relationship between Masai tribe and the Ngorongoro eco-system is absolutely impressive. The Masai herd their cattle towards and out of the crater each day for water, they amazingly lead their cattle to water alongside the “Big 5” around the crater.

The crater is moderately small and it can often look like there are a lot of vehicles, but it is still a must to see park on most itineraries. One visit to the floor of the crater is typically enough, unless it is necessary to increase your chances of seeing a rhino in the Northern Circuit Tanzania Parks.

Location: Northern circuit, 4.30 hours outside Arusha en route to the Serengeti

Tourist and Safari Activities: Game Drives, Hiking, Nature Walk, visit a Masai Boma, visit Olduvai Gorge.

Best Time to Visit: 1 day is usually enough to see the crater.

Animals: It is one of the few places where you have a great chance to spot Rhinos. You will also find Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant, Zebra, Giraffe, Warthog, Hyena, Hippo, Wildebeest, and Ostrich.
